Hope it meets with Frodo7's approval :)

Holy crap! This is awesome.

incredible! so beautifully made... the little branches with the leaves, the seamless connection with the roots, the gnarled yet perfectly readable look - chapeau! this would work perfectly on the cover of a fantasy book/fairy tale.
my only suggestion would be to copy all the letters on the lowercase without the connecting roots (sometimes you might not want them), and to make a space-wide connecting root on the underscore so you can let seperate words grow together...

Wow. I'm floored.

If this isn't proof of FontStruct's greatness and your mastery of said FontStruct, I don't know what is.

Tree-mendous.

Reminds me of the film Sleepy Hollow by Tim Burton featuring Johnny Depp. The headless horseman's twisted tree. Very mystical.

Thanks for the comments. They mean a lot coming from people who actually know what they are talking about :)

shasta - I have de-rooted all the letters and placed them on the lower case ... hadn't realised how many brick-stacks I had done on the original till I started copying! I will follow up on the connecting root underscore idea soon.

this is great. much character and nuance. and great technique. interesting i think the cases should be switched - not that it matters - especially with all the brickstacking :) but i think lc as connected would flow better visually and have uc as non-rooted. like i said - not that it matters, you only have to switch uc and lc to get the same effect :) and still magnificent.

Spacing on E needs to be sorted out.

What a treet!

Great attention to detail. Love the overlapping branches.

@nippa - cheers ... have checked all the spacing again.

@funk_king - I'm a gibbering wreck at the mere thought of transposing the lc and uc :)

Now that's what I call efficiency. Pretty fast job on the derooting! And a good one too... The sample text looks beautiful like this, I think I even start to see some poetic deeper truth of nature behind a fox jumping over a dog when it's written like this. ;)
Are you a gibbering wreck at the mere thought of making numerals too? ;)

p2pnut
p2pnut Sat, 25th July, 2009

n n n n numerals?

I might give them a go before too long ... I may even include a few punction glyphs sometime.

In the meantime, I also want to add lower-case to my Alphabox family (mustn't ignore the little ones). I have been trying to find out whether it is possible to cut & paste from one font to another ... otherwise I will have to create a fresh lc for each variation. It's not that I am too lazy to do so, it's just that it seems such a long-winded way of doing it.

djnippa
djnippa Sun, 26th July, 2009

Before doing other variations.
I find it's best to complete a font as fully as possible - numerals, punctuation, European Set, Spacing, Alternatives, Tweaking, and more tweaking. Only when I'm 100% sure it's complete do I then decide to do clones. Otherwise it's a nightmare. :-)

All part of the learning curve I guess. I'll remember your sage advice next time

aphoria
aphoria Sun, 26th July, 2009

nippa has a good point. There is no copy-and-paste between fonts, unfortunately.

p2pnut
p2pnut Sun, 26th July, 2009

I wonder if that would be a possibility for a future version of FS?

Very tree-ish indeed.

JRRT gives us inspiration in many ways.

Fantastic work!

Regarding copy&paste between fonts: I agree this would be a great feature to have.

This font is a good one. From its outstanding design, to its humerous name(Entrees--enTREES). This font is very enjoyable. But tell me: what trees are these, and what inspired you, p2pnut, to make this?

p2pnut
p2pnut Fri, 4th September, 2009

@aaaalllleeeexxxx: The idea came from the Ents (especially Treebeard) from The Lord Of The Rings. The trees are just fantasy.

Well, I think that's it for now - hope the additions make it a tad more useable.
