Description:
Inspired by the RoboCop movie logos. In the last 20+ years, I've never found a fonted version of this logo, TTF or otherwise; I'm surprised no one has done this one before in FontStruct. Now includes a full character set. Type "RoboCop" into the View-User Input option to try it out! The OCP Logos Dingbat are located in the font "Alex Murphy Dings".

No Robocop font existed? I wouldn't be so sure about that. There were comics, games and tons of merchandise related to the movies and TV series. It was probably commissioned by the film company, and locked somewhere in the archives of Orion Pictures Co.

Anyway, we don't really need it. Your version looks quite authentic and good enough for the rest of us. I have a few suggestion to make, if I may. The key letters of the original logo font are quite perfect as they are. I would experiment with a different M (and W). Consider one similar to the 3 rotated 90° CCW. The present M is a bit too crowded, and evokes distant memories associated with medieval or fantasy stories. Number 7 is a bit awkward too. You could make a fantastic one by reusing element of Z. I very much like the way you organized and positioned the lower case letters. They are basically small capitals. Aside from those minor issues Alex Murphy is an outstanding effort. 10/10

You are correct, Frodo7, on both accounts:

(1) I'm sure that there IS a typeface somewhere designed with this style, but I was only saying that I've never found it, whether it was fan-based & free or commercial/for purchase.

(2) I agree that the M & W were quite weak, and the 7 looked like something from TRON. I was also concerned that many of the designs looked too similar to the style of "Machine" TTF...

I redid the M & W, and they now match closer to the N and V. I also made the Z a bit more angular, and based the 7 off it it (see picture below).

And the M now looks like buildings from the Delta City skyline... :^)

11/19/09 UPDATE -- DING FONT NOW FIXED AND IS SEARCHABLE IN THE GALLERY, THANKS TO GFERREIRA'S ASSISTANCE!

...And for some reason, at the moment, you cannot search/find the "Alex Murphy Dings" font unless you are looking at my gallery (Goatmeal).

However, you can use its permalink to get to it directly (for all you OCP logo lovers):

I like the new versions. Smart use of V.

Hi Goatmeal — “Alex Murphy Dings” is not listed in the gallery because it has just one glyph. (FontStruct does some checking to keep the gallery clear from quick test fonts and doodles.)
