Description:
This was an exercise in trying to extract as standard a serif typeface as possible out of the FontStructor. The 't' is the token quirk. Oh and there's an introbang in here too. :)

Usually I don't like fontstructions trying to emulate bezier curves, but the sampler really convinces me!

And the quirky look of some glyphs makes the whole thing much more interesting...

Thanks, Em. It was a slow day yesterday so I had time to create brick stacks.

Here's a typographic riddle:

I'm smitten. Suitable genuflections being performed right now. If I had done this I would call it Intaglio and retire. It's absolutely perfect. Reminiscent without slavishly looking like anything else; a perfect meld of Fontstruct strictures and fluidity; hot damn, I think I am going to retire. You've created what I've been struggling for all this time. That decapitated t is brill.

Rave on, rave on.

I'm blushing, but no no, there will be no retiring. It's called tributary for a reason, intaglio!

In the words of one group from your part of the world, "Carry on, keep romancing / Carry on, carry on dancing". I expect to see your hundred-and-eleventh font tomorrow. Go play!

STRANGE!
i just recognized the rating, BEFORE i voted myself. it was a 9.4 after 6 votes. then i voted the 10 i was talking about, and it turned out to a 8.3 rating!!!

how can that be?
i'm not that good in mathmatics, but is that possible anyway?

There's no point worrying about the ratings, kix. Thanx for the 10. :)

More importantly, is this how it would be if it was released from constraints? The tail looks all wrong.

I don't remember seeing your sample of fs_tributary being released from it constraints, but yeah. I see a lot of your work that should be released from constraints, and be released as original pro-versions. Put that FontLab to work! ;-)

This one in particular reminds me of early 3D video games that required low polygon counts, resulting in linear curve approximations.

Leaving the comfort of FontStruct is a somewhat scary notion. Appreciate the vote of confidence though. Thanks.

As for video games, I stopped playing when all games started to resemble Doom. (No in-escapist faux realities for me, thank you). Half the fun was seeing the pixelated graphics, and when they got old, so did I. The most advanced I got was the original color GameBoy. After that the handhelds became too visually advanced for my liking. Wipeout series has been the only exception, and that too only because of tDR's graphic brilliance on the first in the series (and the Atom Bomb¹ video, of course). I'm showing my age. *creek*

¹ (Can't link to it. The comment genie knocks off the URL after the equals sign. Anyway, it's "Fluke - Atombomb (Video Version)" on YouTube.)
