This version does away with as much unsightly negative space as possible, leaving just a thick, bold, heavy, almost completely filled block of text...yet maintain legibility. I am all for negative space, but this font, apparently, isn't. Can't fight the glyph--like lemmings on the go--you just have to provide a way to get them where ever they are headed.
