I then picked out the central line of each horizontal, vertical and diagonal strip, which left me with a very simple, disjointed, linear set of glyphs. Finally I extended each line to get a 3D effect. I think the result has quite a retro futuristic feel (if you know what I mean). Definitely a display typeface. Yes, I "cheated" on the Latin accents, but it was a nice challenge in getting them to work in the small space. Looks deceptively simple, but tricky to get to preview properly. It started off as a joke to create a death metal sans serif display typeface that is more legible and readable. Its called Skool Sux, because it reminded me of something a young kid might carve into a desk at school. I think it came out ok for my first fontstruction. I know it needs some work, so I am open to any comments/critiques. I will be doing the numbers and punctuation sometime soon.
