Identified as "No. 1229" in their Lettres Fantaises of 1896, it sports a very fine side shadow, which I've attempted to re-create here. (I found the "No. 1229" sample on Hoefler & Frere-Jones' blog - fifth image from the top.) This FontStruction is split in two to make downloading possible. I then picked out the central line of each horizontal, vertical and diagonal strip, which left me with a very simple, disjointed, linear set of glyphs. Finally I extended each line to get a 3D effect. I think the result has quite a retro futuristic feel (if you know what I mean). Definitely a display typeface.
