8%20Downloads81%20Comments178%20Glyphs78Initially%2C%20I%20envisioned%20this%20font%20as%20an%20elegant%20serifed%20font%2C%20based%20on%20my%20handwriting%20%28which%20is%20not%20to%20say%20it%20is%20itself%20elegant%20in%20any%20way%29.%20It%20has%20some%20Art-Nouveau%20influences%2C%20featuring%20contrasting%20bowl%20sizes%2C%20and%20sharp%20diagonal%20lines%20juxtaposed%20against%20flowing%20curves.%20When%20I%20began%20working%20on%20it%20in%20FontStruct%20however%2C%20I%20wasn%27t%20able%20to%20render%20its%20sinuous%20lines%20as%20I%20had%20first%20imagined.%20It%20evolved%2C%20becoming%20squared%20and%20angular%2C%20taking%20on%20a%20more%20Gothic%20feel%3B%20although%2C%20this%20suits%20its%20name.%20The%20title%20comes%20from%20%22Ribbons%20of%20Baroque%20Ecstasy%22%20is%20the%20name%20of%20a%20collection%20of%20works%20by%20English%20architect%20Neil%20Spiller%2C%20who%20advocates%20a%20return%20towards%20Gothicism%2C%20and%20away%20from%20bland%20Modernism%20and%20schizophrenic%20Post-Modernism.

4%20Downloads47%20Comments766%20Glyphs66The%20idea%20for%20the%20font%20came%20from%20looking%20at%20the%20curves%20in%20Wind%20ornaments.%20The%20block%20like%20structure%20of%20the%20wood%20and%20then%20the%20spiral%20effect.%20I%20also%20looked%20at%20Wooden%20table%20arrangments%20that%20resembled%20wood%20shavings%2C%20like%20ribbon%20curls.%20I%20wanted%20a%20contiuous%20theme%20to%20run%20through%20and%20link%20all%20the%20glyphs%20together.%20So%20i%20used%20the%20ribbon%20like%20structure%20as%20the%20backbone%20to%20all%20the%20uppercase%20and%20then%20serifs%20to%20link%20the%20Glyffs%20to%20each%20other.%20There%20is%20also%20a%20suggestion%20of%20movement%20in%20the%20style%2C%20as%20it%20is%20italic.%20I%20kept%20the%20decorative%20theme%20as%20well%2C%20to%20stay%20true%20to%20the%20concept%20behind%20the%20idea.%20This%20is%20a%20display%20font%20with%20a%20limited%20and%20definate%20purpose.
