The typeface draws inspiration from the long tradition of German Fraktur styled blackletters. The name Hunstrück is taken from a mountain range in Germany called the Hunsrück. Primarily I was aiming to build a face that would work well as a display type for gig posters and larger headlines but as I reworked the typeface I tried to strike a balance between text and display. Big thanks goes to djnippa for his hard work in spacing this font properly. A clone and many hours later, Etched was born. Later added borders and decorations when the sample called for it.    Then cloned the clone and stripped it bare...because DJNippa was going to ask for it, wasn't he!. :-)-----Works best at 64pt. Set leading to between 48pt and 56pt. Originally based on teeth braces, then it turned into the internally reinforced steel bars in concrete pillars. That are used in the construction industry to help support buildings secondary flooring and roofs. Having helped my father build several houses as a young man, making this font resurrected many 'back breaking' days of shoveling cement into wooden jibs then dropping in the reinforced steel....! It is certainly a lot easier designing a font.
