Following my ‘ornate’ theme I also wanted to keep each letter very attractive making each letter look like an ornament but also if used a full body text still holds this ornamental theme.The%20typeface%20was%20created%20with%20influence%20from%20fonts%20used%20on%20circus%20posters%2C%20I%20wanted%20it%20to%20come%20across%20as%20quite%20flamboyant%20with%20a%20sleek%2C%20more%20modern%20undertone%20which%20I%20think%20I%20have%20achieved%20with%20the%20thin%20vertical%20lines.%20Following%20my%20%E2%80%98ornate%E2%80%99%20theme%20I%20also%20wanted%20to%20keep%20each%20letter%20very%20attractive%20making%20each%20letter%20look%20like%20an%20ornament%20but%20also%20if%20used%20a%20full%20body%20text%20still%20holds%20this%20ornamental%20theme.

I'm sorry this isn't very complete and far from being perfectly well done, but it somewhat started to make me feel dizzy...;) And even though I'm not very convinced by this, I don't think I'd come up with a way better execution soon.I hope for Mr Escher that there are better tribute fonts for him out there! He'd definitely deserve it...It was by the way funk_king's Impossible Alphabet that reminded me of this unfinished thing laying around in my messy unpublished fontstructions box, and made me take it out and finish it. (If you can call 42 characters "finished".) And believe it or not, in the process of doing these three fonts, enough additional glyphs were created and deleted to fill at least two more variants. And I'm sure everybody got told at least once to finally shut down that damn computer while fontstructing. Here's how you can go on tinkering fonts even with the computer unplugged!;) I had carried this idea around with me a long time ago, doing some sketches, but abandoning it cause I thought all the thin and dotted lines would go beyond fontstruct's possibilities. Until funk_king proved me wrong... Thanks for the re-inspiration! I think this is pretty self-explaining. Cut along the solid lines, fold along the dotted lines and put some glue on the shaded parts, put it all together, and there you go with your new toys! Unfortunately it was impossible to fill all the inner sides of all the counters, but I tried to leave them open where you'd see it least. There might also be some bugs, I haven't tried them out yet. Pure brainwork so far... (My brain's still in the freezer to cool down a bit) In case someone ever actually uses them and finds something wrong, please let me know! Hope you like it!:) Check out the fill font if you wanna print your own custom-made design on the letters! Edit 5th August: Just copied the uppercase on the lowercase for reasons of convenience... I might add some alternates for some letters on the lowercase though, probably coming in September. Started off quite different; this is how it ended-up. My conclusion: All fonts want to be blackletter....because%20it%27s%20not%20quite%20blackletter%2C%20is%20it%3F%3Cbr%3E%26nbsp%3B%26nbsp%3B%26nbsp%3B%26nbsp%3B%26nbsp%3BThis%20font%20went%20through%20a%20lot%20of%20%28interrupted%29%20modification.%20Started%20off%20quite%20different%3B%20this%20is%20how%20it%20ended-up.%20My%20conclusion%3A%20All%20fonts%20want%20to%20be%20blackletter.

Along with Wim Crouwel and Josef Albers, Jurrian Schrofer (1926 - 1990) was among the Bauhaus pioneers of grid-based modular typography and design. Schrofer's work experimented with type, light, and color and focused on mathematical shapes and pattern. From the book ‘Dutch Type’ by Jan Middendorp: “Schrofer made several attempts to create complete typefaces - one of which was wittily called Sans serious - but this was never his goal. ‘Is it necessary’, he wrote, ‘to make complete alphabets with upper- and lowercase, figures, diacritics and seriously adorned with a name, when the aim is merely a formal investigation into basic recipes’ Schrofer's domain was never the design of typographic alphabets, to be used by other designers, but always the creation of letterforms ‘made to measure’ as part of his own designs of - mainly - book covers and postage stamps. He created a rectangular alphabet as the basic element of his ever-changing covers - each based of the same grid but colored differently - for a series of scientific books, ‘Les textes sociologiques’ from Mouton Publishers. He made sophisticated pixel-based letters, all drawn by hand, and experimented with photographic screens as a means of distinguishing simplified letterforms from the background.
