3 Downloads3%20Downloads3196 Glyphs196%20Glyphs196Ruboku's 'Amstrad CPC Extended' was an awesome 8x8 font, but there were two or three minor flaws (strange-looking 'b', too-high 'z' etc.) I just decided it would be nice to give it a little tweak. Also, now it is 100% fixed-width, which makes it good for coding and ASCII-art as well. Don't bother giving me credit, just give credit to Ruboku. :)Ruboku%27s%20%27Amstrad%20CPC%20Extended%27%20was%20an%20awesome%208x8%20font%2C%20but%20there%20were%20two%20or%20three%20minor%20flaws%20%28strange-looking%20%27b%27%2C%20too-high%20%27z%27%20etc.%29%0D%0A%0D%0AI%20just%20decided%20it%20would%20be%20nice%20to%20give%20it%20a%20little%20tweak.%20Also%2C%20now%20it%20is%20100%25%20fixed-width%2C%20which%20makes%20it%20good%20for%20coding%20and%20ASCII-art%20as%20well.%20Don%27t%20bother%20giving%20me%20credit%2C%20just%20give%20credit%20to%20Ruboku.%20%3A%29

Unconventionally fontstructed while adhering to the impositions of the law of the brick. What do I mean? Just try recreating the letter A. Nice for clean geometric designs, and as always with complete Basic Latin, More Latin and Extended Latin A sets. (Though I must admit I've started to regret the huge amount of characters I have to do for each new addition. I'm sure the family would be growing quite a bit faster with a reduced character set. Well... sometimes perfectionism comes at high a price.) The end result is a highly readable typeface — even at smaller sizes — comprised entirely of straight lines. While the astronomical definition talks about alignment, the word “syzygy” more broadly means “the union of disparate or opposing object, ideas or concepts”. That's where I planned to leave it in private (and you're probably thinking that's where I should have left it). Check the creation date - it's been stranded for a while. This is the first in a set of text face experiments, and it reveals the beginnings of an evolution of high contrast fontstructing over a minimized grid space. Not all glyphs are how I wanted them to be. Some may be hideous. The spacing is terrible. But as a fontstruction, this one really got me to push the bricks to develop some resemblance of a Times Romanesque sharp serif typeface. Many, many tricks had to come in to play to make this happen at its current state. Overlapping bricks, brick stacking, overlapping brick stacking. It's all in there. I learned a lot from this insane attempt just from the lowercase letter forms alone. I mean, just look at that g! Try it at your own risk. 6x8 grid space, Double XY. But don't worry, this is as bad as it gets. It does get better from here, but only a little bit, so don't get your hopes up.
