And I'm sure everybody got told at least once to finally shut down that damn computer while fontstructing. Here's how you can go on tinkering fonts even with the computer unplugged!;) I had carried this idea around with me a long time ago, doing some sketches, but abandoning it cause I thought all the thin and dotted lines would go beyond fontstruct's possibilities. Until funk_king proved me wrong... Thanks for the re-inspiration! I think this is pretty self-explaining. Cut along the solid lines, fold along the dotted lines and put some glue on the shaded parts, put it all together, and there you go with your new toys! Unfortunately it was impossible to fill all the inner sides of all the counters, but I tried to leave them open where you'd see it least. There might also be some bugs, I haven't tried them out yet. Pure brainwork so far... (My brain's still in the freezer to cool down a bit) In case someone ever actually uses them and finds something wrong, please let me know! Hope you like it!:) Check out the fill font if you wanna print your own custom-made design on the letters! Edit 5th August: Just copied the uppercase on the lowercase for reasons of convenience... I might add some alternates for some letters on the lowercase though, probably coming in September. I liked the idea of playing with the different sqare bricks to represent the different parts of each glyph, in order to achieve moire effects. The concept was inspired by the "How very Tokyo"-poster by Spin (I posted it in the comments). I liked the idea of cutting every letter into pieces so it looks artistic but is still readable. Freestyle consists of three parts: the whole letter at the top and in the middle/at the bottom there are parts of it, cut vertically. Upper- and Lowercase are different. Under construction, more glyphs to come. This can be used e.g. for posters or magazine layouts. In the process of drawing these new weights, I began modifying some of the forms of the new glyphs away from the original Chesterfield glyphs in order to build a more flexible brick/grid structure for the development of various weights. The most noticeable difference between these three new faces and the original is the lowered x-height. That said, there are still some compromises between the different weights and because of that I've given them these royalty names instead of the normal practice of light, regular, and bold weight names. One of the biggest compromises occurs in the Prince weight, where I was unable to add the notch where bowls and shoulders meet stems (see King and Queen weights) without adding too much extra black weight to those parts of the glyph. A work in progress for sure. Any help/thoughts/repulsions/bile appreciated.
