Originally based on teeth braces, then it turned into the internally reinforced steel bars in concrete pillars. That are used in the construction industry to help support buildings secondary flooring and roofs. Having helped my father build several houses as a young man, making this font resurrected many 'back breaking' days of shoveling cement into wooden jibs then dropping in the reinforced steel....! It is certainly a lot easier designing a font. I took some liberties with the serifs: they might not be where they are intended to be or missing where they should be. They have no diagonals, just semi-circles and straight lines. This alphabet is the attempt to extend this construction principle to a complete (well: caps only) alphabet that you could easily cut from metal. And - like any principle that doesn’t come from writing – it doesn’t really work.
