The block like structure of the wood and then the spiral effect. I also looked at Wooden table arrangments that resembled wood shavings, like ribbon curls. I wanted a contiuous theme to run through and link all the glyphs together. So i used the ribbon like structure as the backbone to all the uppercase and then serifs to link the Glyffs to each other. There is also a suggestion of movement in the style, as it is italic. I kept the decorative theme as well, to stay true to the concept behind the idea. Some glyphs came together fairly easy (A B C etc.), others took some doing (T Y S), some just don't work out well (G P Q Z), and some worked too well (I J).Although%20build%20from%20scratch%2C%20AUGHT%20should%20really%20appear%20as%20a%20clone%20of%20%3Ca%20href%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Ffontstruct.fontshop.com%2Ffontstructions%2Fshow%2F240731%22%3Eought%3C%2Fa%3E%20because%20the%20idea%20is%20the%20same%2C%20just%20a%20different%20execution.%20Some%20glyphs%20came%20together%20fairly%20easy%20%28A%20B%20C%20etc.%29%2C%20others%20took%20some%20doing%20%28T%20Y%20S%29%2C%20some%20just%20don%27t%20work%20out%20well%20%28G%20P%20Q%20Z%29%2C%20and%20some%20worked%20too%20well%20%28I%20J%29.

I'm sorry this isn't very complete and far from being perfectly well done, but it somewhat started to make me feel dizzy...;) And even though I'm not very convinced by this, I don't think I'd come up with a way better execution soon.I hope for Mr Escher that there are better tribute fonts for him out there! He'd definitely deserve it...It was by the way funk_king's Impossible Alphabet that reminded me of this unfinished thing laying around in my messy unpublished fontstructions box, and made me take it out and finish it. (If you can call 42 characters "finished".) Also, now it is 100% fixed-width, which makes it good for coding and ASCII-art as well. The typeface draws inspiration from the long tradition of German Fraktur styled blackletters. The name Hunstrück is taken from a mountain range in Germany called the Hunsrück. Primarily I was aiming to build a face that would work well as a display type for gig posters and larger headlines but as I reworked the typeface I tried to strike a balance between text and display. Big thanks goes to djnippa for his hard work in spacing this font properly.
