Then I just doodled some repeating patterns. Then I saw how I can fill the patterns inside the letters. They fit together pretty easily for vertical letters, but diagonals were really tricky. The end product resembled Hawaiian leis draped over each glyph. Very floral. So there you have it. Flowers. Join in the fun already! I thought I might as well make the entire alphabet in the same style without the flames. The lines came from the style of old school renderings of the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four in Marvel Comics. But while kneeling on the ground and collecting my wits, I noticed the impression left by my tire treads in the mud and thought there might be a Fontruction idea in there. PUNKT™ features lowercase, numbers, punctation and some additional characters AND professional kerning! HAUS is a RE-DESIGN and differs in some glyphs from PUNKT™. I completed the set with small caps and small digits and developed text numbers. It uses minimal grid blocks to achieve the desired effect (although at ~2x2 and the slivers and the pinhole dots, there are a surprisingly large number of actual bricks used per glyph than evident at a quick glance, although not a single overlapping brick is used without express purpose). I think this is my favorite of all the ones I've done so far. It is with nervous anticipation that I let it free.
