“Scratching” is a form of vandalism apparently derived from sprayed graffiti, in which tags are scratched into windows (usually), mostly of public transportation vehicles and street furniture. This phenomenon has apparently begun in the early 1990s.
In Germany, scratching is especially prevalent in Berlin, Munich and the whole Ruhr-Area where literally no public transportation train car is without scratched windows, despite traffic companies spending 12 million € on repairing and exchanging scratched windows in 2005 alone.
During the 2006 FIFA World Cup, numerous visitors complained about the scratched windows."

I don't know which ones are best for sure, thalamic, as I really like most of your solutions. Some are of a more consistent weight than others, so I lean towards these by default, even when they’re not my favorite on individual terms. These are my picks for the basic set. Grouping the similar solutions in two or three separate fontstructions is always an option. Or maybe arrange the alternates in the diacritics, if you’re not planning on adding proper ones later on.

That $ of yours is a textbook example of utilizing brick stacks where no other current method would suffice to create the desired geometry. Grid doubling just wouldn’t cut it since you use the large curved bricks which obviously only exist at the one-brick scale!

8 Downloads8%20Downloads82 Comments2%20Comments277 Glyphs77%20Glyphs77A font in the making since Indigo.

Initially, the idea was to make this font a less Gothic version of Indigo. As things evolve, while trying to tone down Indigo, this font took on a life of its own and now just vaguely resembles its parent. For one thing, to introduce clarity in lowercase letters, Violet had to grow taller (than Indigo). Furthermore, the notch in the upper-left part of each glyph that made sense in Indigo seems to be too quirky for Violet. Who's to say if quirky is good or not!

Here it is then. I've left both the quirky and saner version of most characters in. Which ones remain? You decide. Clone, select, share. And if you don't like a certain glyph for some reason, improve it, fix it. Collaboration is the name of the game. Have fun!

PS: $ uses brick stacking. Here's a beta of part 1/6 of my results. Feedback much appreciated.

(It seems the Poster Bodoni-ish punctuation I invited to spice up the specimen below will continue to loiter until the novelty of their foreign surroundings wears off and they march proudly on ;-›)
