I made this for my UWE graphic design first year project "communicating with words". I created this inspired by influences from Ralph steadman and Jackson pollock using the concept of inconsistansy and randomized mark making with ink. the name is derived from a quote from the book "fear and loathing in las vagas".
I designed it by firstly creating the text with a pot of ink and the back side of a biro pen, then from that i drew them by hand onto A4 sheets of graph paper limitating each line to only 4 given angles, then finally transfering that onto fontstruct wich took roughly 30-40mins per letter.
Enjoy!

Started out trying just to make an old-school fontstruction, with no 23.5 degree angles. I had another version with slanted A V W, & X, but it looked more cohesive with everything all blocky.

It'd be easy to use this template and build multiple weights.

This is based on a type design I was playing around with when I was in college in 1975. The original was drawn on graph paper. It had certain rules of construction, such as not using angles that tilted the other direction, making some kinds of forms practically impossible.

Hey fellas!
i know it seems kind of "up to date" to dot around, but beate and her(?) featured download inspired me to experience some DOTTING as well.
The cool thing about using dots is, that the viewers eye/brain/imagination does the MAIN part while viewing it.
There are 8(!) more different angles possible, because of the half circle bricks...
hope you like it!

cheers kix

I can see I'm on a hiding to nothing with that damned cap "S". The lower case s is -- sort of-- acceptable, but it will be a miracle if I can avoid an ugly transition between angles in the x-bar.

So near and yet so far. All the cap single bowled letters could do with a more curvaceous aspect. If I manage to beat the "S" into shape I might have to take on the challenge.

Talk about a sucker for punishment.
