Clone of slubgob.

I saw some stringy potential dyed in the wool of intaglio’s original and tried to draw it out. First I added one brick to the x-height; second I added little connecting, er, nubs for a very tightly spaced continuous script. From there, I was basically done, but then had very little restraint and took it to this point, which is now sort of a mishmash of styles (let’s just go ahead and rule out all caps settings right here and now ;)

I am hoping one of y’all fontstructors will chime in with the next version that really knits the job up all nice like! Or, barring that, I will try to tighten it up and continue to defer all praise to intaglio.

A play on brickstacking, 'Brutal' is an experiment in creating a one brick fontstruction for multilayered screen printing. To use this font, you simply need to layer the uppercase alphabet on top of (or underneath) the lowercase alphabet (see below for a sample).

Obviously, it doesn't look like much in the Fontstruct preview.

The inspiration for this typeface came about when I was putting together this Flickr gallery of modular multi-colored lettering.

The first 25 downloads are all mine. It was a hard one to test.

I though about this concept while designing the superscript numbers of FS Remix.
It is basically the same grid filter with one brick narrower and one shorter.

The last and most difficult of the sharp serif experiments. Created on an 8 wide by 5 high base grid space. Unconventionally fontstructed while adhering to the impositions of the law of the brick. What do I mean? Just try recreating the letter A. It shouldn't be possible, so I did it anyway.

This is a derivative work of Elspeth LC. Filter: both horizontal and vertical brick size are set to 0.5.
Recommended font sizes: 24, 48, 72, 96, 144, 192, 240. Other sizes result in different moiré patterns as
the bricks partially overlap the screen pixels. Kerning is not perfect, some minor ovelapping may occur.

This was fun to do.
---Not liking the e and the s so much.---While doing the sample, I found that even though the inter-character spacing is specifically set to one grid space wide, Photoshop was rendering the spacing differently per character pair. Same in Illustrator. Curious, I opened it in FontLab Studio. Turns out, the characters that have a half-wide brick left of the left edge in FontStruct are another half-brick-width over in the TrueType file. The sample is, therefore, manually kerned back to original.
